Upcoming PHR Web Cast: How Healthy Could a State Be?—March 22, 2010
Next Monday, March 22 at 1 p.m. (Eastern), Public Health Reports will host a “Meet the Author!” web cast titled, “How Healthy Could a State Be?” based on an article in the March/April 2010 issue of Public Health Reports. Author Dr. David Kindig, emeritus professor of population health sciences and emeritus vice chancellor for health sciences at the University of Wisconsin/Madison School of Medicine and Public Health, will discuss how states might expect their mortality rates to be lowered if they obtained the best levels of health determinants observed among all states.
Dr. Kindig will also discuss the major areas requiring investment if these goals are to be met and address how states will require different investment strategies depending on their pattern of modifiable and non-modifiable determinants.
In his accompanying commentary, Dr. Daniel Fox, president emeritus of the Milbank Memorial Fund in New York City, NY, will discuss the epidemiology of politics, principles and practices by which senior public officials reduce their risk of losing office.
The web cast will run approximately an hour. To register and view the web cast, click here.
