New Fellowship and Scholarship Opportunities!

Fellowship, scholarshipThis week, ASPH announced two opportunities for students and recent graduates. Through a grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), ASPH is offering a new fellowship position at DOT/NHTSA headquarters in Washington DC. Also, through ASPH's cooperative agreement with the CDC's National Center for Environmental Health (NCEH), up to three scholarships are available for students currently pursuing doctoral degrees.

  • ASPH/NHTSA Public Health Fellowship Program
    ASPH is seeking an early-career public health professional with interest in injury prevention and behavioral research, to be placed with NHTSA’s Office of Behavioral Safety Research (BSR). The fellowship is a prestigious opportunity for interested public health graduates with strong research and analytic skills who are dedicated to reducing the economic impact of traffic injuries in the United States.  The selected fellow will have the opportunity to take a first-hand look at the workings of the federal agency dedicated to reducing motor vehicle crashes and become involved in NHTSA’s role in addressing motor vehicle and highway safety. To be eligible, applicants must be recent graduates with a master’s or doctoral degree prior to the beginning of the fellowship (by no later than August 2010, or within five years of graduation.) Graduate degrees must have been received from an ASPH member graduate school of public health accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH).

  • ASPH/CDC Environmental Health Scholarship Program
    ASPH and the CDC announce funds to support up to three scholarship of $25,000 each for students currently pursuing their doctorate degrees.  The selected fellows will conduct doctoral-level studies related to the efforts of CDC/NCEH.  Scholarship recipients will have the opportunity to pursue their studies while receiving guidance and input from CDC experts while studying the relationship between public health and the built environment. Relevant doctoral-level studies will include assessment and secondary research at their schools to examine the relationship between public health and community design.
