FEATURE STORY
New Pathways to Public Health Web Site
A new and improved version of the “Pathways to Public Health” web site is live at www.pathwaystopublichealth.org. "Pathways to Public Health" was developed by the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH) as a way for youth to learn more about public health education and public health careers.

The website features:

  • A clearinghouse of a wide range of types of resources, such as events, media, and more;
  • Ways to share pages with friends (via E-mail), and to post the page on a social networking web site;
  • Profiles of graduate students and young public health professionals;
  • Several “top 10” lists;
  • An interactive poll feature;
  • Statistical snapshots that rotate on refresh of the page;
  • Public health-themed videos; and
  • Information targeted to high school students, undergraduate students, parents, teachers and counselors.

The project was guided by a taskforce that includes representatives from the American School Counselors Association, Girl Scouts of the USA, the National Association of County and City Health Officials, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the American Public Health Association, the Georgia Intern-Fellowships for Teachers, the Emory Center for Science Education, as well as representatives from public health schools and programs. Dr. Ian Lapp, Associate Dean at the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health, chairs the taskforce.

Development of this web site was supported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The web site will be continually updated with new resources and information. To submit any resources or questions, please E-mail pathways@asph.org.
