Next Meet the Author! Web Cast on Preterm Birth—November 3, 2008
On Monday, November 3 at 2:30 p.m. (Eastern) Public Health Reports will host a “Meet the Author!” web cast on preterm birth. This topic was featured in the September/October 2008 Public Health Reports in both RADM Galson's Surgeon General's Perspectives and in an article Mr. Michael R. Kramer of Emory University. In “Place Matters—Urban Racial Disparities in Preterm Birth Rate,” the speakers will discuss methods for assessing the magnitude of racial differences in preterm birth, and the determinants and impacts of this racial disparity in U.S. metropolitan areas.
A question and answer session will follow the presentations.

To access the web cast visit any time after 2 p.m. (Eastern) on Monday, November 3 and sign in as a “Guest.” No pre-registration is necessary.

Also, on February 10, 2009 Public Health Reports will host a webcast on “Peak Oil.” The web cast will feature Dr. Howard Frumkin, director of the National Center for Environmental Health, Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry, U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention; and Dr. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) and professor of public health at the University of Minnesota.
