UNC’s Emerging Leaders Program Names Action Learning Team Case Study Winners

competition winnersThe University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Emerging Leaders in Public Health recently announced the winner of the 2009 Action Learning Team Case Study Competition. The Emerging Leaders in Public Health program, a collaboration of the Gillings School of Global Public Health and the Kenan-Flagler Business School, is designed to prepare the next generation of public health leaders to serve in significant leadership capacities in the next decade. One part of the curriculum focuses on an opportunity to analyze challenges and crises specific to the field of public health.

This year’s winning team, known as Team Synergy, included Ms. Ruth Arumala, graduate assistant, department of wellness, Mercer University; Ms. Randi Burlew, senior research associate, Philliber Research Associates; Ms. Lisa Clarke, program manager, North Carolina Department of Public Health; Ms. Donna Galbreath, medical directorm, Southcentral Foundation; and Ms. Katherine Lao, program assistant, University of California-San Francisco School of Medicine.

This team’s prize winning analysis focused on the communications strategy of public health organizations.
