PHAB Selects Thirty Sites for Beta Test to Evaluate Public Health Accreditation Standards
The Public Health Accreditation Board (PHAB), a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grantee, has selected 30 sites to participate in the national public health accreditation beta test. The sites include state, local and tribal health departments who will evaluate themselves based on accreditation standards, measures and processes and provide feedback to inform the national accreditation launch, set for 2011.
The goal of the public health accreditation program is to improve and protect the health of every community by advancing the quality and performance of all public health departments.
"Public health accreditation can help ensure that people across the country can expect the same quality of public health programs and services no matter where they live," said Dr. James Marks, senior vice president and director, Health Group, at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. "Public health accreditation will elevate the performance of all public health departments in order to make us a healthier nation."
