HSPH Professor Testifies Before Senate Committee about FDA Regulation of Tobacco Products
Dr. Gregory Connolly, professor of the practice of public health at the Harvard School of Public Health, testified before the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions on Tuesday, February 27 regarding "The Need for FDA Regulation of Tobacco Products." Dr. Connolly is the former Massachusetts Tobacco Control director. From 1986 to the fall of 2003, he led a campaign to "Make Smoking History" in Massachusetts and, during that time, oversaw the fastest decline in smoking in any state. Adult cigarette consumption dropped four percent per year.
