Rollins SPH Alumni, Students Pay Visit to Capitol Hill

On Monday, March 12, approximately 30 Emory University Rollins School of Public Health (RSPH) students and administrators traveled to Washington, D.C., from Atlanta, Ga., to take part in the first annual RSPH Washington D.C. Networking and Study Tour.
The three-day tour was designed to facilitate student insight into the description, function and career paths offered with agencies and organizations in the nation's health epicenter by enabling students to interact with potential employers in domestic and international health policy, program management and research.
The tour also offered RSPH alumni working in Washington D.C., an opportunity to showcase their professions and employers by arranging informational sessions between students and senior management at organizations such as the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Government Accountability Office and US AID.

In addition, students had the opportunity to meet with the acting Surgeon General, Dr. Kenneth Moritsugu, visit with the Global Health Council and the Kaiser Family Foundation, and participate in a behind the scenes tour of Capitol Hill.
An alumni networking reception at the Dirksen Senate Building enabled both students and alumni to connect and mingle. Nearly 100 alumni turned out for the reception.
