SOPHAS Exhibits at Three Events

SOPHASSOPHAS representatives have recently exhibited at three events: University of California, San Diego Career Service Center Health Professional School Fair on Wednesday, April 15 in La Jolla, CA; National Conference on Undergraduate Research 23rd Annual Graduate and Professional School Fair from April 16-18 in La Crosse, WI; and Unite for Sight Annual Global Health and Development Conference from April 18-19 in New Haven, CT.

Ms. Brenda Fass-Holmes (SDSU) exhibited at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) Career Service Center Health Professional School Fair on behalf of SOPHAS. Co-sponsored by UCSD's Health & Medical Professions Preparation Program, the fair had over 40 colleges, universities and organizations represented.  A keynote address was given by Dr. Christopher Searles on the future of health care in America. The SOPHAS table was busy throughout the day—lots of informational material was distributed and attendees were very enthusiastic about the schools.

Mr. Melvin Monette (Minnesota) attended the Graduate and Professional School Fair on Thursday, April 16 on behalf of SOPHAS. The fair was held in conjunction with the 23rd Annual National Conference on Undergraduate Research from April 16-18 in La Crosse, Wisconsin. The fair was held in the Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse on the University of Wisconsin-L campus.

Mr. Vincent James (Harvard) and Ms. Melissa Gilmore (Yale) attended the Unite for Sight Annual Global Health and Development Conference, held April 18-19 in New Haven, CT. The conference titled "Achieving Global Goals Through Innovation" convened 2,500 participants interested in international health and development, public health, eye care, medicine, social entrepreneurship, nonprofits, philanthropy, microfinance, human rights, anthropology, health policy, advocacy, public service, environmental health and education. Traffic at the booth was steady and attendees at the exhibit hall were interested in learning more about ASPH and the Schools of Public Health, and were very dedicated to Unite for Sight and excited about being there.
