Loma Linda SPH Holds Graduation
Loma Linda University School of Public Health celebrated commencement on Sunday, June 14. The school graduated 165 students this year with DrPH, MPH, MBA or BSPH degrees. In addition to the United States, the graduates came from Guam, Chile, Peru, India, China, Japan, Korea and Iraq. Dr. Linda C. Degutis of the Yale Center for Public Health Preparedness, as well as the School of Medicine and School of Nursing at Yale University, gave the commencement address.
Dr. Degutis offered the graduates some advice to carry with them as they begin their careers. Among other things, she reminded them that public health is about people and encouraged them to never compromise their values.
"Remember that creating change takes courage, so you have to be brave," Dr. Degutis said.
