Harvard SPH’s Dr. Barry Bloom Honored with Distinguished Service Award
Dr. Barry R. Bloom, Harvard University Distinguished Service Professor and Joan L. and Julius H. Jacobson Professor of Public Health, received a Distinguished Service Award (see here) from the USA-India Chamber of Commerce at the U.S. India BioPharma & Healthcare Summit 2009 on Thursday, May 14 in Cambridge, MA. He was honored for his contributions to public health in India.
Dr. Bloom first visited India in 1969 and has worked towards improving public health in the country for 40 years. In recent years, he was instrumental in the establishment of the Public Health Foundation of India, which is creating several schools of public health, and serves as co-chair of its Academic Advisory Committee.
