Ms. Cara Hamann, doctoral candidate in the Iowa College of Public Health’s department of epidemiology, has been named the recipient of the Best Student Paper Award with the Injury Control and Emergency Health Services (ICEHS) section of the American Public Health Association.
The ICEHS/APHA Best Student Paper is selected through blind review of many submissions and is a highly competitive award. Ms. Hamann's winning paper is titled "Case-site-control-site study of on-road bicycle facilities and bicycle crashes in Iowa, 2007-2010."
Hamann is with the University of Iowa Injury Prevention Research Center and is an Occupational Injury Prevention fellow with the Heartland Center for Occupational Safety and Health. She was awarded a pilot study from the Heartland Center to conduct this work.
She will be recognized at the ICEHS Awards Banquet at the APHA meeting in San Francisco on October 30.
